Pizza Rolled Up (a.k.a Stromboli)

You can really do anything with this recipe. All you need is refrigerated pizza dough and fillings. Here is the version I usually make:

One Pillsbury refrigerated pizza dough
Thinly sliced pepperoni, pastrami, bacon, and canadian bacon
Thinly sliced provolone and mozzarella cheese
Small can of sliced olives
Sliced banana peppers
Minced yellow onion
3 minced garlic cloves

Roll out pizza dough into a rectangular shape, as large as you can make it (14x8?). Layer the sliced meats, cheese and veggies on the pizza dough.

Roll of the pizza dough (long ways) like a jelly roll. Brush top of uncooked stromboli with olive oil.

Cook in preheated, 350 degree oven for approximately 30 minutes or until dough is golden brown.

As you can see, there can be many, many variations of this recipe. Basically it is any type of pizza rolled up in dough. AWESOME!

  1. Holy moly - that looks good.

I make something sort of similar, only I flatten out a can of cresent rolls, then put some tuna salad down the middle. Fold in the edges (leaving the center exposed), top with shredded cheddar cheese, and bake for about 12 minutes. Voila! Easy tuna melt!

  2. I do love tuna melts! Don't be surprised if that recipe shows up sometime on this site. I never thought of using crescent rolls...
